Brass Samai Diya Stand – Slim Kerala Deepam, 7 inch

A tall brass samai, the Kerala-style oil lamp. The top bowl has five points for five cotton wicks. It has a flame-shaped top and stands on a round base. This is the slim one, with a smaller bowl.

It is 7 inches tall and fits a home mandir or pooja shelf.

A lit lamp is part of every pooja. In many South Indian homes, the samai is lit morning and evening. It is said to bring light, peace and good luck into the home.

Use with ghee or oil and cotton wicks. Brass goes darker over time. To make it shine, rub with lemon and salt or a brass cleaner, then dry well.
