Most households keep a bottle for occasional use rather than daily, so it lasts — which is why the 50ml sells as steadily as the larger sizes. The 500ml is the one taken for a griha pravesh or when a full mandir is being cleansed.
Significance: Gomutra is one of the panchagavya, the five products of the cow used in Hindu ritual alongside milk, curd, ghee and dung. Its role is shuddhi — the purification of a space or an object before it is used for worship. It is sprinkled through a new home at griha pravesh, used to cleanse the mandir after a period of mourning or illness in the house, added in small quantity to the abhishek of certain deities, and used to purify the pooja vessels before a major ceremony.
Choosing a size:
50ml — occasional household use; enough for several cleansings
250ml — the usual size for a family ceremony
500ml — griha pravesh, a full mandir shuddhi, or a mandal
