Rose water for the shrine, in three sizes. Distilled from rose petals and bottled for worship — the label is marked Only for Pooja Purpose, so this is the devotional grade rather than a cosmetic or culinary rose water.

The 50ml is the pocket size people pick up alongside a thali or a packet of wicks. The 250ml is what you want if you are hosting a katha or preparing for a wedding, where rose water gets used far faster than you expect.

Significance: Gulabjal carries fragrance into the prayer. It is sprinkled over the deity and around the shrine before aarti, mixed into panchamrit alongside milk, curd, ghee and honey for abhishek, added to the water in the kalash, and used to wash the idol once the abhishek is finished. Roses and rose water are particularly associated with Lakshmi and with Krishna, and run right through wedding ritual — sprinkled over the mandap, over the guests, and over the couple.

Choosing a size:

  • 50ml — everyday use at the home mandir, and the easiest to keep in a pooja thali
  • 100ml — the standard household bottle
  • 250ml — for weddings, kathas and festival decoration
